Trip Details

This is me and Liz overlooking the Siene in Paris (just to prove we can go on trips together). Our year out trip, starting in July 2009 consists of two months on Canada, three months in the US and then back to the UK for Christmas and New Year.
In Canada we are going to fly to Vancouver and then make our way west, probably hiring a car and finding places to stay along the way, and having a back up tent if places are booked up (it will be the busy holiday season). We will stay in Toronto and do Niagra type site seeing before making our way to the US, and going to cities like Boston, New York Washingtom and Chicago. Staying in cities we will try to book an apartment before we go, from the internet (there are loads) as we reckon it will give us more flexibility than hotels. After our visit to cities (using public transport between cities and staying for a week or so in each) we are going to hire (as the Americans have it) an RV to tour round. We are going to "do" the national parks and as many of the must see sites as possible, I am looking forward to planning a route. We will fly home from Las Vegas, where Jenny (daughter) plans to meet us for a 21st birthday celebration/treat for us all.
In the new year 2010 we are going to fly to Singapore and have a look at KL in Malaysia for a week or so. Following this we are going to go to the Phillipines, to stay with my brother Rick for six weeks, I am going to pretty much rely on him to organize these six weeks. After the Phillipines we are going to Australia for three months, mainly the east coast but I would love to go to Perth as well, having heard so many great things about it. The Australia leg of our tour needs to be worked out more.
So that's the rough plan, how will it go............

Am beginning to "like" your itinery for your big trip. sounds really good to me....from my recollection of "our" previous trip, it was a mixture of 1. travel...obvious 2. the cities, really worth it and 3. the national parks, wow you will love them....the 6 weeks here is a piece of cake and just about the right amount of time i think...mum coming for 6 weeks i can judge that from here with her visit / yard stick to look at....Good one anyway

cheers

Thanks for the comment, I know the plan is a rough one and needs more detail, however there is lots of time and I/we will enjoy doing it. Liz is really up for it as well, it's definitely on.

Cheers
